ISO 9001:2008 Quality Manual - Requirement 4.2.2
In this article I will present some important contents of a Quality Manual based on ISO 9001:2008.
This standard requires four important topics:
- Scope of the quality management system;
- Details and justification for any exclusion;
- Procedures or references to the procedures;
- Description of interaction between business processes.
The organization needs define a scope of your quality management system for example if your organization has products and services you can choice just one of them or both.
You can exclude some requirements of ISO 9001, but you must be clear and justify in your Quality Manual. If you, for example, sell product but don´t design and develope it, then you can exclude the requirement 7.3 Design and Development.
The Manual is a strategic document in a QMS that defines how the system shall be operated refering procedures. A good tip is don´t write specifically about activities and process in Quality Manual, just refer the procedures.
One description of interaction between process is necessary to visualize the process approach.
You don´t need follow any formatting rule. You can include in your Manual other strategic information like mission, vision, strategic planning or historic of your organization in the market.
And don´t forget, some new workers need to take notice about Quality Manual and your revisions.
